Tasting Notes
An astonishingly rich golden colour, the hue you see when watching the sun set over the ocean from the beach at the mouth of the Douro. The smell of the wine wraps itself around the senses with a sweet, perfumed honeysuckle scent. So thick in texture, the wine oozes across the palate. The sweetness of the honeysuckle is married to a wonderful dried apricot yet the two intense flavours are balanced by an exciting acidity which keeps the palate fresh and focused, revealing just how much acidity the wine must carry, but it is the orange marmalade fruit and floral perfume which persist for minute after minute on the aftertaste and finish. There is an incredible concentration and intensity to this wine, yet it also manages to maintain the perfect balance. This is truly a fitting tribute to the memory of José Fortunato Júnior and his legacy of family wines.
